I have always loved New Year’s. It’s an excellent time for reflection, new beginnings, and self-growth. Every year I make resolutions. Sometimes I follow through. Other times I don’t. But more often than not, I don’t. That said, I started reading again at the beginning of this year. And I followed through on a resolution for the first time in a long time. My initial goal was to read 50 books a year, but I ended up reading 164. Soon after I began reading again, I wanted to tell all my friends about the books I was reading. But, of course, many of my non-reader friends could care less about “x” grumpy book boyfriend declaring his love.
That realization led me to create a bookstagram in March 2022. I was terrified to create my account, often thinking, “who in the world cares about my opinion? I will be lucky if I get 100 followers.” In those early days, most of my followers consisted of my IRL friends, for which I am so grateful. Nine months later and I am close to 6,000 followers (crossing my fingers). It has been a wild journey, but I love the community I have found in that corner of Instagram.
These events led me to this post. It’s the end of 2022, and I am reflecting on the past year and planning my goals for next year. One of those goals is to continue growing my bookstagram by posting fun, innovative, and informative content. Additionally, I decided to start a blog! As you can see, I love to talk. I also love to give advice. This blog marries two of my loves: books and advice, specifically bookstagram and law school advice. In addition to being a reader, I am also a lawyer. When I entered law school, I had no idea what I was doing. Here, I aim to create an inviting space for anyone interested in law school, as well as law students and young lawyers. This blog is also meant for readers of all types (but know, I’m a romance lover) and bookstagrammers/aspiring bookstagrammers.
I hope you enjoy! Let the fun begin.
