Protected Love by Vikki Jay is a fast-paced, suspenseful, and sexy read. Bodyguard romances do something to me, and this one did not disappoint. The suspense kept me on my toes, and the romance made me swoon!
The relationship development between Gavin and Minnie was fun to watch. It was interesting to see the push and pull between them. They knew they wanted to be together, but you know how fake dating goes – there was a lot of back and forth and not admitting feelings for a while. I love the fake dating trope!
I will say – I was slightly more interested in the suspense than the romance in this book. That’s probably because the suspense was done very well. I wanted to see how everything was resolved.
Finally, I enjoyed the relationship that Gavin had with his family. There was a ton of banter, and it was entertaining to read. The scenes between them provided comedic relief even during tense situations.
Even though Protected Love is the third book in a series, I could still understand it without reading the first two. But I might’ve gotten more out of the story if I had read them first, and I definitely want to read them now.
