Have you read the Chestnut Springs series by Elsie Silver? If so, you NEED to check out the latest book in the series, Reckless. If not, you need to read the entire series. Theyβre binge-able as heck, and you would likely fly through them! I have yet to meet someone who did not like them. You might not like cowboy romances or small-town romances, but this series will likely convert you! π
βWatch your fucking tone when youβre talking to the mother of my child.β
First things first, I must say Elsie Silver can write anything! I typically donβt love the surprise baby trope. To say I was nervous about this book is an understatement, but it blew me away. Theo and Winterβs love story was not rushed in the least. This story was unique and stayed true to the series as a whole. It was cozy, hilarious, and full of heart. The commentary on motherhood was beautiful. I am not a mother, but it still pulled my heartstrings. I loved that Elsie did not try to sugarcoat anything. There were challenging moments, but overall, it was a beautiful story!Β
βWhatβs happening is Miss Independent met the treat-her-like-a-princess guy, and sheβs freaking out.β
THEO SILVA! Okay, hear me out. Until about a week ago, Daddy Cade was my favorite. But Theo Silva is giving Daddy Cade a run for his money. Theo is a sweet-talking, hilarious, protective, hot AF, reformed playboy. I adored how he never judged Winter and treated her like a princess. Also, I liked that he was not one-dimensional. There was a lot of depth to his character that I wasnβt expecting.Β
βIβm still a mess now.β
Iβll fully admit I was not a Winter fan going into this book. But much like I didnβt like Nesta before reading Silver Flames, Winter has been redeemed in my eyes here. I better understand where sheβs been coming from throughout the series. That doesnβt excuse how she treated people in the past. But I like her and was happy to see her get her happy ending.Β
βYou are a national treasure, Harvey Eaton.β
Harvey Eaton is indeed a national treasure! I donβt know how Elsie comes up with the stuff that comes out of Harveyβs mouth, but Iβm convinced she would be a blast at a party. Harvey is freaking hilarious and continuously provides great comedic relief. I would love to grab a drank with him. IYKYK π
FINAL THOUGHTSΒ
If you canβt tell, I LOVED this book. I wish that I could go on a trip to Chestnut Springs and hang out with everyone. The Chestnut Springs books have a fantastic cast of characters, and Theo and Winterβs family is an excellent addition. Check out Reckless if you want to fall in love this summer and laugh out loud.
I’m so glad you loved this book. I recently started the first book in her series and I’m really enjoying it so far. I cannot wait to dive into the rest of the “world.”
Anything with a “he falls first” trope has me in a chokehold.
Thank you!! I’m so happy to hear that you’re enjoying the series so far! I hope you enjoy the rest of it! π
Ahhh yes — same here!!!
